Itinerary (may be customised)

Day 1 Phnom Penh – Kompong Chham – Kratie – 230km

After a good breakfast we will leave the city on our XR250 and the chaotic traffic of Cambodia. Riding along the Mekong through small remote villages will show us how the populations live in the countryside, The Irrawaddy Dolphins in Kratie are worth a visit and we can enjoy a 1hour boat trip on the Mekong River in the evening.

Terrain: dirt and gravel, tarmac.
Accommodation: Hotel, AC, Sat TV, hot shower

Day 2 Kratie – Mondolkiri – 200km

The waterfalls are nearby the city and invite us for a cold shower. We will spend the day to ride to the hidden gem mining villages on small trails.

Terrain: dirt road, river crossings and small rocky trails.
Accommodation: Nature Lodge, hot shower and sauna

Day 3  Mondolkiri round trip – 120km 

The waterfalls are nearby the city and invite us for a cold shower. We will spend the day to ride to the hidden gem mining villages on small trails.

Day 4 Mondolkiri – Rattanakiri – 180km

Early in the morning we will head north to one of the most remote places of Cambodia. Rattanakiri is near the Vietnamese and Laos boarder. The people in the villages often speak different languages. Swimming in a volcanic lake is the bonus for this hard day ride.

Terrain: gravel road, dirt trails and river crossings.
Accommodation: Tree Top Lodge, sat TV, hot water shower

Day 5 Rattanakiri – 120km

Waterfalls, gem mining villages and rubber plantations are worth it to be seen in this area. We will ride half a day around this province and relax in the villages and meet the locals.

Terrain: sandy trails and gravel roads.
Accommodation: Tree Top Lodge, sat TV, hot water shower

Day 6 Rattanakiri – Stung Treng – 200km!

Small roads will lead us near Virachay National Park and Siem Pang, the last village before the Laos border. We will need to cross some rivers by boat and some others by bike. In the evening we can enjoy a mix of fruit shake and unforgotten sunsets on the Mekong River in Stung Treng.

Terrain: tarmac, dirt road, sandy trails, gravel roads, along the Lao Border.
Accommodation: Hotel, A/C, Sat TV, hot shower

Day 7 Stung Treng – Tbeng Meanchey – 160km

We cross a last time the Mekong River and head west. Remote villages are far from civilization and small single trails are main course for this day. We have to do some river crossings before we reach Tbeang Meanchey. For dinner we will have an original Cambodian dish “Sleeping Cow”!

Day 8 Tbeng Meanchey – Koker – SiemReap – 160km

Since 2004 the temples of Koker are possible to visit. The area has been heavily land mined after the war. This region is now also safe to visit. We will see the Koker temple, the former residence of Jayarwarman IV and Tbeang Mealea temple. In the evening we will enjoy a good western dish after a relaxing traditional Khmer massage.
